The family court system is failing our children

“Fairness in family courts should not depend on money, tactics, or system gaps.”

Across the UK, thousands of families enter a family justice system that was built for a different era. Children lose meaningful time with loving parents. Cases drag on for years. Financial imbalances allow the system to be used as a weapon and children pay the price.

Deliberately false allegations, misrepresentation and even perjury have become common features of many proceedings, yet meaningful consequences are rarely imposed.

This creates incentives for dishonesty, prolongs conflict, and leaves children trapped in disputes where truth too often takes a back seat to litigation strategy. This is not inevitable. It is a structural problem and structural problems have structural solutions.

A campaign-led organisation for real reform.

Fair Family Justice is not a passive advocacy group.

We combine public engagement, evidence-based policy development, and direct lobbying of MPs to drive meaningful, lasting change, campaigning for a legal aid repayment model, mandatory cross-court safeguards, shared parenting as the default starting point, and clear timelines that protect children from drawn-out uncertainty.

Alongside our campaign work, we are publishing a children's book, giving families an accessible entry point to this conversation and raising vital funds for our lobbying mission.

“The system will not improve by itself. Change happens when ordinary people speak up, share their experiences, and refuse to accept that the status quo is good enough. If you believe children deserve better - you're in the right place.”
